The Pursuit Of Definition
A poem about redefining oneself
Defining oneself is a curious task,
Which is beginning with an ask,
To inquire who we are
Sometimes upon a
wishing star.
Defining oneself is a courageous task,
As it requires us to take
off our mask,
To look at ourselves in our reflection,
Face deception.
Defining oneself
sometimes seems a crazy task,
It can feel like looking through a flask
Seeing a distorted projection,
Carefully crafted in protection.
Defining oneself becomes a calming task,
As delusions slowly
start to bask,
Releasing false ideas of identity,
Leading us to get to know ourselves authentically.
Defining oneself is a never-ending, inconclusive task.
It comes with balance, acceptance, and a renewed ask.
To let go of attempts to be
someone we are not,
And to rewrite our story’s plot.
